A Mission That Started With One Missing Dog

Donna Bourget is the founder of You Will Be Found, a lost dog recovery organization built from a passion that began with one missing dog named Olive. Olive was the first dog whose disappearance Donna became deeply involved in, and although she was never found, the experience changed the direction of Donna’s life. She still carries a piece of Olive’s collar in her purse today as a reminder of the dog who started it all.

Over the past 6½ years, Donna has helped bring 625 dogs to safety. What began in Eastern North Carolina has grown into a network that has helped with missing dogs across the country. Her work has included everything from coordinating volunteers and following sightings to using trail cameras and humane traps for dogs that have been missing for weeks, months or even years. Her recoveries have included service dogs, frightened runaways and dogs whose families had nearly given up hope.

For Donna, every recovery is personal. She understands what it means to keep searching when there are no guarantees because Olive was never able to come home. That experience continues to drive the patience and persistence behind You Will Be Found. Every dog brought home carries a little piece of the promise that began with Olive: to keep looking and never give up too soon.
